It has been suggested that as much as 5 to 20 percent of the adult population in the United States avoid dental treatment because of dental anxiety. It has also been said that a major cause of this anxiety is from a painful or other traumatic experiences. These people often choose IV Sedation for having dental work done. There is also another way, they call “conscious sedation.” This means the patient stays fully conscious, but in a relaxed state of mind.
